FAMILY JEWELLER IN HEREFORD

Hereford Gold is a family jeweller in Hereford with over 45 years of experience.

Robert was made redundant in early 1977 and chose to become self-employed. . He opened ‘Discount Jewellery’ which you now know as 'Hereford Gold' in late 1977, using the proceeds from running market stalls and the balance of redundancy money.  Commercial Road was chosen as its location as it was a bustling part of Hereford just outside the ring road. Robert had his mother Violet and sister Margaret working with him initially and at a later date his father Robert, younger sister Violet and cousin Mary also joined the Family business.

From the beginning Robert decided, where possible, he would hire family. To this end, he has employed cousins, nieces, nephews, and daughters as well as persons within the local Community.

   His wife Philippa started helping out 32 years ago and discovered a love for the Business. Hereford Gold has evolved with this active partnership into a thriving, high quality jewellery business.   This period has seen Hereford Gold undergo many physical changes and upgrades to try and move into the 21^st Century whilst still maintaining the Family ethos. Like any other business, there have been challenging times that have been overcome.

     Robert has had 45 years of successful business, buying, selling and repairing jewellery at these premises and hopes to pass this business tradition on within the family. He gets a great thrill to see that his Customers are the third and sometimes fourth generation of his original customers.
